Businesses in Vermont focus on plastic film recycling program
Many companies want to do their part as single-use plastic manufacturing rises by contributing to recycling initiatives for difficult-to-recycle products like plastic #4 low-density polyethylene (LDPE). In Chittenden County Vermont, there is currently no curbside or pick-up recycling service for plastic film. Waste Free Earth created the community-shared system concept. The system comes from farmers who had utilized the CSA (community supported agriculture) model as an alternative to big-box merchants for decades.
Waste Free Earth is presently looking for corporate partners to assist in funding the program's development. They have a goal of $20,000 to get the initiative off the ground. Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) is a non-profit business group with a purpose to use the power of business to have a positive social and environmental impact across the state. Through shared learning, developing connections, and collective action, VBSR's 650 enterprises and organizations work for a transformative economy that benefits all people and the earth.
