A Previously Unrecyclable Plastic Might Now Be Recyclable
Polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) is used around the world in food and beverage packaging, as well as for multilayer barrier packaging in the medical industry. Now, Solvay has demonstrated a process by which its Ixan PVDC bioriented film may be recycled from post-industrial food packaging waste. Furthermore, the recycled material retains important water vapor and gas barrier properties, which are essential to its function in medical film applications.
