Bormioli Pharma Debunks a Sustainable Packaging Myth
Bormioli Pharma Debunks a Sustainable Packaging Myth
Bormioli Pharma commissioned a study to shed light on the topic of extractables in sustainable plastic packaging and whether or not the amounts of extractables in sustainable packaging are as safe as those in conventional packaging. The study looked to test extractable levels in eco-friendly rPET bottles. The test conducted by a specialized third party lab found that extractable levels in the tested material were 150 times below the hazard index(based on the ISO regulation on biocompatibility). Further demonstrating their commitment to sustainable packaging, Bormioli Pharma launched their sustainable packaging line EcoPositive. A project 15 years in the making , EcoPositve is the primary line that will fulfill Bormioli Pharma's sustainability strategies which include regeneration of raw materials, renewable sources and manufacturing with infinitely reusable materials. With this initiative the firm looks to take an important step in establishing a dedicated regulatory framework for low impact, eco-friendly packaging solutions in the pharmaceutical industry.

Patented KP Technology uses Molecular Ordering to Improve Plastic Packaging
Patented KP Technology uses Molecular Ordering to Improve Plastic Packaging
Keiryo Packaging recently shared details on their innovative plastic processing technology which incorporates molecular ordering into the processing phase. With this technology Keiryo is able to reduce the environmental footprint and manufacturing costs of producing plastic packaging. Interestingly, the word Keiryo actually means 'less weight', a key concept that the firm intends to deliver through their patented processing technology. The KP technology works by triggering a scientific phenomenon known as Flow-Enhanced Nucleation and Induced Crystallization (FENIC). This phenomenon uses the flow as a vehicle for the creation of ordered entities (Crystals in this case). Consequently, these ordered entities enhance the plastic's functionality while using less material. Learn more here.
