Biodegradable Static Dissipative Film Developed by Croatia-Based EcoCortec
EcoCortec’s new Eco-Corr Film ESD is a compostable static dissipative biodegradable plastic film
Croatia-based EcoCortec has developed a new static dissipative plastic film that is also biodegradable and compostable. The film breaks down in a few months in ideal composting conditions or up to 6 months in less than ideal conditions. Static dissipative plastic film is used to create bags and films for applications in electronics, telecommunications, packaging, and electric cars.
The film, called Eco-Corr Film ESD, was developed in response to soon-to-be-implemented European Union rules penalizing the sale of non-recyclable plastic packaging, including polyethylene electrostatic dissipating (ESD) films. Using vapor phase corrosion inhibitors, this film has antistatic properties independent of humidity and forms a molecular layer for corrosion prevention on metal substrates. DUO UK Has Record Sales Month
DUO has doubled production of its plastic mailing bags in 2020
DUO, the UK-based manufacturer of plastic mailing bags, has doubled production in 2020 after a £1.85 million investment in new equipment and expanded facilities. As of the beginning of December 2020, they had produced an additional 58 million more mailing bags to date than in 2019, an increase of 66%. The growing demand for e-commerce is driving the increase in demand.
DUO purchased a new conversion machine and a five-layer co-extruder, increasing their polyethylene film output by 25%. The new equipment also supports DUO’s commitment to use recycled polyethylene content. DUO added seven new positions to help meet the increased production and plans to invest another £1 million for additional equipment in 2021 to further increase capacity.
